Lead Yourself Into The Future Day

On the lead yourself to the future day , I learnt that I think I can be quite creative and team working . Like during the newspaper tower. We started doing the tape strips from the top of or tower to the floor. We all used our creativity to think of new ideas . Although we didn’t win we all used PLA’s which really helped us.

I also used kindness. Because we only had two Donvale students I knew I had to start a conversation. Even though I was out of my comfort zone and felt a bit awkward I made a new friend out of doing that. I found out that we had connections with each-other. Like we both love to play sport and play music.

Team-work, this is a big PLA that was used.We couldn’t have done it all by ourselves. Like myself or anther team mate couldn’t have built the tower on our own. We all communicated with each other which of course also helped . Over all I think our team worked great together.

Awesome Toonallook

Hello everyone 👋,

Recently we have gone to camp and it was so busy, but before I tell you about how everything went let me talk about how I used my Pla’s and about a whole lot of other stuff 😂

PLA’S I USED:  I used courage quite a few times, like the bike riding. It was nerve racking for me because I was nervous about going on the road and in all the trees. I got used to it and actually had a great time. We saw so many Koalas which made it so much better. I also used Connectedness . I connected with Danica  because she is in 5S and came with us. She was in my tent and we had a great time. I am actually using reflection right now while Im writing this. I have  to reflect on everything we did.

One word: If I had to choose one word to describe Camp it would be Adventurous . It was like a rollercoaster. There were ups and downs but overall amazing. My favourite bit about Camp would be King ball or Kaiaking. King ball was so much fun. It was like the game 4 square or down ball but giant circles and they were separated. The king ball, ball was much bigger than a four square ball. But the bits that were a challenge was  the bike riding, as I already said it was a challenge because we rode on the road ( wasn’t very busy but still nerve racking ) and on the sand/ dirt paths.

Highlights: The highlight on the camp for me would be the sunrise. It was absolutely stunning, peoples cameras couldn’t catch the real beauty. But Misty’s camera got pretty close. We all just sat there and enjoyed it. You don’t understand how beautiful it is until you see it .

Challenges: As I already said that bike riding was a challenge. And as much as I loved Kaiaking it was a bit stressful.  I kept thinking I was going to go to far out. But myself and my partner communicated really well with what way we were going to paddle.

New Friendships: I made a new friend at Camp Toonallook  and I made a new friendship with  Danica. She was so kind and really fun to have in our Cabin. Danica helped me take photos at the beach and we laughed together. I hope that we have a chance to spend time with Danica some more.

Most memorable moments: My most Memorable moment would be the Sun Rise. I’ve never seen our class so quiet , and it was just amazing to be able to enjoy something so wonderful. Everyone really had a great time and even though it was 5:30 getting up that early was all worth it. I am so excited to go back to Toonallook. The beach was absolutely stunning there were she.ls everywhere and the sand was so soft.

A big thank you to all the outdoor ed staff and our teachers for making this camp amazing.

If you went to Toonallook what was your favourite part about it and why?

Book voting

Hi everyone,
Recently we have had book week and got to do a Carey vote for these books. Make Believe, Waves, Bouncing back, Happiness box, Our Birds and my favourite Sorry Day. We had to vote on possibly not our favourite but what book fitted these categories best. Visuals, Layout, Information and also some notes that we wrote. The book with the highest score for me was Our birds. Even though it wasn’t personally my favourite. The actual vote not by us but the actual Eve Powell Award 2019 went to Sorry day . A good Information book is one that isn’t to full on, on each page.
Voting for the books was quite hard. You had lots of books to read through and had to write notes about it. I did the voting with Holly and we got a lot done. We worked quietly together and helped each other. I had a great time doing all of the voting and I really loved it .

Sovereign Hill Reflection

Hello everyone,

As you know we have recently gone on camp to Sovereign Hill.  I enjoyed how we at night we had time to do our budget list. In my cabin I had Hazel, Lorelei, Natasha, Tilly and myself. I was in St Peters Denominational School and it was certainly an experience. I knew it would be strict and hard but this was just the next level. They treated us so much more as kids like then than I expected. Im glad they did because of that we got the best experience out of it. In our class our Ma’am got nine apple pies. It was very funny and an amazing time.

The sewing in our class was so much fun but not so much fun when I accidentally tied a knot  on to the needle. I was petrified about how much trouble I was going to be in. But I actually didn’t get in much trouble. We had to show leadership in sovereign hill when we were walking up and down the streets. Even when we were in the classroom we had to be leaders and behave. We had to show Courage in our own way. Whether it was doing an activity you were not so sure about or just asking for the time in a shop. We all showed Courage even if you didn’t know you were. We also had to co-operate when we did the map activity and with lots of other  things that we did.

Literature festival reflection

Hello people that are reading this,

My favourite part about the Literature Festival was spending time with my buddy, also the book buying. There were so many books to choose from. Graphic novels to sport books. I also really liked how there were so many things   to do, there were  Library activities, sport activities and. Metcalfe activities . Watching my Buddy be so happy made me happy. I bought a book from the Festival and I love it! I have only started it because I had to read my book chat ( which I also loved.) The People running it did it so well. I look forward to it each tine but Having a year one buddy made it even more awesome.

We met Mark Wilson After Lunch and  learned how to draw hard thing but really simple. We drew a soldier that was really cool. All my friends were enjoying it so much. He made us draw really weird and random things like a eye, turtle, one toe a leg and a strand of hair? Lots more things that were really fun and cool to draw. He showed us that you can make amazing art work just by lines. He once got told to draw a angry wombat and we all started laughing. He said that was his reaction was when he got told.  Overall it was a really great and amazing day!

Year 5 Market Reflection

As you know we have had our market recently. I did not expect to make profit but my group did so well and made a actual profit. In my group I had George, Lucas, Lorelei and Hazel. Everyone has worked super hard leading up to it and on the day its self.  A challenge for us was being outside because some people come at the start and then don’t come back out. But the way we  problem solved was going inside and attracting buyers to come to our stall. We sold Orbeez, Slinkies, Stress balls, squashies, bouncy balls, string balloons key-rings and a ping pong cup activity. James – Macready- Bryan came. It was so exciting to hear that the mum said he was really excited, because it’s hard to tell. Our grade raised $ 6008. To think that all that money goes to that foundation is just crazy to even think about. My groups stall ( called Crystal Clear) was outside. I really didn’t want to because i thought our group would be cold but it was such a beautiful day. Our slinkies were massive for the younger grades and was so exciting to be doing. At the Market your either Sprooking , Shopping or serving customers. At one point I was serving customers like crazy. When one person was done the next person  was asking straight after. I think we had a really good idea of finding the jars for our orbeez . We found them at simple Kmart. My favourite bits of the Market was seeing people with our products and telling their friends about it. Also when the preps asked us to help them to get money out, their faces light up when we hand them their product/s. During this experience we had to be a leader. The way we showed this was by showing selflessness, respect and Effort. I think i showed being selfless by giving everyone a job. When everyone left the stall to go shopping at the end when we had sold out i didn’t leave because i knew if anyone came they would have to talk to someone.

What was something you did to show selflessness at the Market and why did you show it ??
